How I can be a master at playing the violin?

I learned to play the violin for six years and spent every (<grade 6) Comments ABRSM practical distinction. Is it good enough, or what else should I do?

I agree with other posters that the practice is important. But I would add something to the practice is not perfect – practice makes permanent. Perfect practice makes perfect. That means that everything you practice, the good or bad habits are ingrained in your game The best way to learn to practice correctly and forget the bad habits and good manners is to have good teachers. The progress on the violin of a high school degree requires good teachers, period. In general the level of the chains are in a professional orchestra is very, very high. Almost all have an academic background in performance, if not a master or maybe one winter training. I play in a community orchestra and have a wide range of actors, a bassist, who left the Cleveland Orchestra, for people with little experience in single year. However, the average level of the players who have studied their instruments for 10 + years and have a bit of orchestral experience. I say this not to discourage, but you know that the game of strings is often a life long commitment, and very useful. In fact I got a bachelor's interpretation violates but decided not pursue a career as a performer. However, I play a lot, and have taken the violin in the last two years. I play in a quartet together. Because I learned to practice a good teacher in college, you can learn music quickly enough , and polish my pieces very well. I still had some lessons from time to time the leading players and teachers to not change the course. Hope this helps, Karl

What should I look for in an old violin?

These are the violinists and collectors of stringed instruments: That I was at an auction and an old violin course (with bow and case) is sent before being placed in nomination. As a total newbie (who is interested in learning to play and an appreciation history and beauty of these instruments), which should be looking at the review of the instrument? Please be specific. Do not say "looks good" or "make sure it is in good condition. I do not know what good quality sound or look similar conditions. That's what I ask. What makes this violin a good investment or bad? What are the signs that he was well supported? Plays regularly? Well furnished and well designed? True or older release? In addition, all links to guides to good or pages of information would be useful.

for any stringed instrument, you should look for good sound quality. It is, without But only one of many factors that investing in an instrument. if you're starting to play I would not go to buy a big old, but the collection is good. The first thing to decide is what age you wish. If you want a baroque violin (the oldest), then is a trademark of most other violins. You can look inside the violin to see the manufacturer's name, and when it was (on the label is placed below the f-hole on the left). If you must play finally you want to have a very nice sound. This decision is of the opinion-oriented, but a beginner should not be the only one to make a decision like this. Ask a friend who is an advanced string player to help you find the right tool. A violin that sounds and a sensual voice has, in my opinion, is optimal. Many old instruments should be repaird, which can be costly. If you see a violin you buy, but you need points, you should consider whether it is worth it. Note that frequency instruments aftr sound even better to be repaired. Good luck!

Violin setup problems?

So I can tune a guitar in 60 seconds without any problems. But every time I try to configure my violin, heard by both the tuner and electricity, I spend half an hour trying and not consistent. I tried in using only the ankles to the top of the violin, and I tried to use the pegs at the top and bottom, and will not work. The background to the PEG chain A is also much deeper in the base than others, and the bottom D string poles PEG completely out. Is this normal or something wrong with it? Or it is normal and the violins are, in fact, never in the air?

I play the violin for over 12 years, and I find the easiest way to tune a violin: Play One (440) in the tuner and play the violin power against him. If you really believe that do not match, then use pins that are generally used if the "A" on the violin is more like a lower or higher. If you think that these two sites are only slightly off, then use the tensors (What is at stake in the bottom). When are satisfied with the correspondent of the A again, turning off the electric field and the use of the function tells you if the earth is flat or sharp (with an electric needle, if you have any? "). Note that the slope inequality can change field (and electric needles are very sensitive), in order to maintain stable arc and uniform. Use turnbuckles again if necessary. Repeat operation with the D and G-strings, then the chain of E. Takes some getting used to tune his violin, but after you do, will be able to adjust the strings against each other because everyone is fifth. As for the uneven distribution of ankle … should not be taken too far from the tip truncated ankle takes more than an eighth of an inch, but should be enough to push the holes are completely covered. Otherwise, it is normal for the ankle to be a little uneven. Hope this helps!

Should I loosen my violin bow before storing?

I do not really play the violin, I have only one to have one, but when I took I get him to loosen the bow a backup before saving? If you have other tips violin storage would also be very useful. Thanks!

It's good to loosen the front when you do not play if the camber (the curve) of the arc is maintained. Some say it even helps prevent deformation of the arch, but not I am sure how I work. If you have the natural horsehair bow, should help to maintain its elasticity. You can also work with the resin that has dried and is of no use for you. (Tapping on the end against his hand in a garbage can should help eliminate completely) Other things you should do when you keep your violin in the case: 1. Clean your violin. It has the fingerprints and resin waste everywhere. If Get It Now, before it is in the case is cooked, you will have a much more clean time easy. 2. Clean threads. Some of the clubs long strings and rosin. You can keep fresh for longer chains, and keep them that way sounds better, keeping the ropes as clean as possible. 3. Put a cloth on the ropes before you close the case. This helps keep the bow off the case. Be aware of what you put in the bow hook arc also. Some violin cases are designed to hurt and if you put the bow on the upper hook, the arc can damage the bottom of the instrument. Sure the fabric and wash once a month as well. Remember that if you use a dirty rag to clean the instrument, he rubs the land of his instrument. 4. Open your bag of accessories and make sure of rosin, tuner, and all that you keep are there. You can not always find the items missing looking at the stand (sometimes fall) but if you know they are missing, you are invited to look around a bit more difficult for them. 5. If you have the kind of case that allows you to store your music out, make sure the music is off the stand and orderly, ensure that all straps are fastened and zippers all be compressed. Sounds stupid, I know. You be surprised how many times I have to do home repair and violin for a student fell from a case because they thought they had closed. Sorry by the response to long-winded, but I wanted to do justice to your question. Hope this helps and if you have any questions, feel free to give a profile. I'll be happy to do what I can.
